WATERVILLE ? The Maine Alliance of Media Arts is seeking films by young directors and filmmakers for the 24th Maine Student Film and Video Festival public screening and awards presentation, 1 p.m. July 7. Open to Maine residents 19 and younger, the deadline for entries is June 1.
Works are chosen by a panel of judges on the basis of originality, content, style and technique. The entire film must be the work of the person of persons entering the competition. There is no age limit for actors, documentary subjects or musicians who may appear in the film. Teachers, artists and advisors are encouraged to assist entrants, but the entering students must make all actual video production and editorial decisions.
The senior division grand prize is a $2,000 scholarship to the Young Filmmakers Program, International Film and Television Workshops in association with Rockport College in Rockport. For information call 773-1130 or check the Web site at www.agate.net/~ile/mama.
