HAMPDEN – Sisters Eva Shannon and Myra Shannon combined for five singles and two RBIs as the Hampden Academy softball team shut down Old Town 2-0 Thursday in high school action.

Junior Myra Shannon hit two singles and drove in her sister in the second inning. Freshman Eva Shannon singled three times, including one in the second that plated Michelle Wells (two singles). Jenna Shue doubled. Erika Veinote allowed two hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in five innings.

Allison Gallant and Jen Higgins each singled for Old Town.

At Orono, Emily Miller allowed just three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out four to help lead Ellsworth to victory.

Miller hit an RBI single in the fourth inning for the Eagles and Catie Cravens doubled. Becca Silsby scored two runs.

Emily Balaban singled and scored twice for Orono and Kaeley Spinney had a singled and scored a run.

At Greenville, Hannah Breton hit a three-run homer and added a single to power the Lakers past the Tigers of Jackman.

Greenville’s Beth Bartley chipped in with a solo homer and two singles, while Leslie Harris added a triple and a single. Elisa Gary drove in two runs on a double and two singles, while Susan Muzzy gave up just three hits.

Daigle had a home run and a double with three RBIs for the Pioneers. Amber Voisine tripled, doubled, and singled with four RBIs and Nicole St. Pierre struck out nine.

Amy Reed hit an RBI double in the third inning for the Beavers and Kristen Goupille added two singles.

Tasha Dwyer hit three singles and had two RBIs for Hodgdon, while Amanda Scott drove in two runs on two singles and Sheridan McCordic hit a two-run single.

At Orono, winning pitcher Jon Brothers belted a three-run double in the four-run second-inning rally and drove in another run with a fielder’s choice as Orono collected its first win.

Brothers went the distance, scattering eight hits and four runs while striking out three and walking four.

Travis Bryant contributed a two-run single.

Ricky Trombley doubled and singled for Ellsworth. Louden Jellison and Andy Berry had two singles apiece.

At Hampden, Chris Pease hit a lead-off single in the eighth and Pat Moran followed with a two-run homer to give Hampden Academy the win.

Pease allowed just one unearned run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight for Hampden. Ian Lee doubled and singled to drive in a run and Moran also singled.

Travis Shaw doubled for Old Town and Josh Marco scored the run.

At Greenville, Brandon Lavigne singled in the seventh inning, stole second, and scored the game winning run on an error to push Greenville past Forest Hills of Jackman.

Eric Driscoll hit a triple and three singles to drive in three runs for Greenville. Dave Aucoin singled twice to knock in two runs and Joe Jardine had a double and a single.

Zack Achey hit a two-run double in the first inning for Forest Hills and Josh Malhall had a double and two singles. Jeff Malhall struck out 11.
