Tardiff sparks Bapst in ninth

BAR HARBOR – Mike Tardiff’s single scored Brian Roach in the top of the ninth as John Bapst of Bangor tipped Mount Desert Island 8-7 in high school baseball action Friday.

Tardiff also knocked in three runs with a homer in the fifth. George Keefe doubled and singled to bring in two runs. Cody Andrew also doubled and singled to bring in one run. Roach added a double and two singles.

Danny Lyons singled three times, driving in two runs for the Trojans. Marcus Maffuci tripled and singled for two more RBIs, while Kyle Shea doubled and singled for another two. Matt Grover had a double, a single, and one RBI.

Foxcroft, Ellsworth split

At Dover-Foxcroft, the Ponies’ Matt Carey pitched a one-hit shutout in the opener, but Matt Homich scattered five hits in the second game as the Eagles earned the split.

Foxcroft Academy won the first game 4-0, but Ellsworth took the nightcap 8-3.

In Game 1, Carey allowed only a second-inning double to Chris Edgecomb, striking out six and walking seven. David White led the Ponies with an RBI single.

Cory Smith spread out five hits in taking the loss.

In Game 2, Homich struck out eight, walked four, and hit a batter while earning the win.

Andy Berry led Ellsworth with a double and a single, and Mike Smith singled.

Justin Freeman posted a double for Foxcroft, while Logan Forrest and Josh Pelletier added run-scoring singles.

At Corinth, Anthony Lancisi tripled and doubled to knock in two runs and lead Central to the win.

Colby Brown had two singles and three RBIs for Central, and Mike Julian tripled and singled to drive in a run. Josh Underhill and Danny Kane each had two singles.

Nick Bishop singled twice and had an RBI for the Wolverines of East Millinocket.

At Guilford, Shane Tracy collected a complete-game victory and Mike Burnett had a double, two singles, and two RBIs to lead the Pirates past Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Roy Burdin had a double, single, and three RBIs for the Pirates. Jarrod Robinson hit three singles, and twin brother Jeffrey Robinson added an RBI double.

Matt Cummings hit two singles for the Howlers. Joe Gilley and Josh Ireland each had RBI singles.

At Hermon, Duston Thomas had three singles and four RBIs to further his own cause as he tossed a four-hitter and notched the win for the visiting Riots.

Jon Brothers had a two-run single for Orono.

Hermon turned a 5-2-5-6 triple play with the bases loaded off a liner to third base, a throw home, a throw back to third, and a throw to second.

At Dexter, Ryan Martin and Eric Day each had three singles and three RBIs to lead Dexter to victory.

Aaron Woodman and Brandon Woodman both had two singles with two RBIs for the Tigers.

Justin Morrill tripled and singled with an RBI for Penquis of Milo, and Ryan Andrews added a double and a single to drive in a run.

At Lincoln, Bree Hanscom singled to right field in the bottom of the seventh as Kami Cousineau scored the game-winner from second for Mattanawcook.

Denielle Nicastro struck out four batters in the last two innings, allowing only one hit to help the Lynx shut the door. Hanscom also had a triple and Jordan McCafferty doubled for two RBIs.

Karen Bird singled four times and drove in the Pandas’ only run in the fifth to tie the game. Shelby Pickering had two singles, and Jackie Moors had an RBI double.

At Hermon, Kristen Oakes allowed just one run, one four hits, and one walk while striking out eight to help lead Hermon to the win.

Mycah Cyr and Shannon Wiggin each hit an RBI double for Hermon.

Lindsey Colbath singled and scored a run for Orono.

Ellsworth sweeps Foxcroft

At Foxcroft, Catie Cravens and Emma Rieman each drove in four runs as the Eagles won the first of two games 16-2. They also took the second game 4-1.

In the first game, Cravens tripled and doubled twice. Rieman had three singles and a triple.

Coral Goggin and Brittany Fadley had an RBI single apiece for the Ponies.

In the second game, Ellsworth’s Maggie Seavey hit two singles and had one RBI.

Ashley Martin had two singles for Foxcroft Academy.

At Corinth, Nikki Daniel drove in three runs on three singles to lead Central to victory.

Alyssa Libby allowed just one run on two hits and no walks while striking out four for Central. Jenny Rollins had a double and two singles with two RBIs, and Chantell Randall hit a solo home run and a single.

Robin Larlee hit a solo homer in the second inning for the Wolverines of East Millinocket.

At Bangor, Aimee Sargent scored the winning run for Bangor Christian by stealing home in the sixth inning.

Megan Mishou allowed three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out 12 for the Patriots. Amber Leathers hit a two-run double in the sixth.

Sheila Wilbur tripled for Searsport as Theresa Cameron allowed four hits and two walks while striking out 11.

At Dexter, Kayla Goodine hit a single with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to drive in the winning run for Penquis.

Dani Graves allowed just two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 12 for Penquis, and Goodine had two singles with two RBIs. Mindy Dolley doubled and singled to drive in a run and Ashley Pelletier singled twice.

Christy McGowen hit an RBI double for Dexter, and Tracy Mountain had two singles.

At Readfield, Jennifer Maseffa pitched a four-hit shutout to lead the Mount View Mustangs of Thorndike past Maranacook.

Both runs scored in the fifth on back-to-back, bases-loaded, one-out singles by Erin Nason and Megan Carter.

Abby Rullen singled twice for the Black Bears.

At Woodland, Alicia Tenney clouted a grand slam, a double, and a single to drive in a total of six runs for the Knights of Harrington.

Chelsey Baker doubled, and singled twice, and had three RBIs. Meagan Nevets had two singles and a triple for two RBIs, while Courtney Foss had three singles.

Tiffany Wormell doubled to bring in two runs for the Dragons. Bonnie Hoops singled and also brought in two runs.

At Blue Hill, Chelsea Robbins hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and a single to knock in three runs and help lead George Stevens Academy to the win.

Christy Moon had a triple and two singles with three RBIs for the Eagles. Patty Lymburner singled twice and scored twice and Robin Rioux had a double and a single with an RBI.

Jody Pinkham had a solo home run and a single with two RBIs for Sumner of East Sullivan. Nichole Leach hit an RBI triple and Whitney Page added two singles.
