Two drivers uninjured after Houlton collision

HOULTON – Two motorists walked away from a crash scene uninjured after a two-car accident on Smyrna Street in Houlton on Friday.

Officer Jared Sylvia of the Houlton Police Department said the accident occurred about noon.

According to Sylvia, a 16-year-old female was in a Smyrna Street driveway at the time of the incident and was preparing to pull out onto the roadway.

Judith Jeffery, 50, of Houlton was traveling on the road in her Dodge Caravan heading toward Ludlow when she came to the driveway.

Sylvia said the teenager saw Jeffery’s vehicle as she prepared to leave the driveway and told the officer that she meant to stop. She apparently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, however, and her Ford Ranger broadsided Jeffery’s Caravan.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to Sylvia, and no one was injured.

He estimated that the teenager’s vehicle had more than $2,000 in damage, while Jeffery’s vehicle had nearly $2,000 in damage.

No charges will be filed, according to Sylvia.
