Old Town police summoned a Brewer man after he allegedly refused to finish a roof he had contracted to build.

Sgt. Travis Roy reported an Old Town homeowner called Thursday evening, saying that she had a written contract with Robert Wagner, 26, of Brewer for a roof repair. The woman said she had paid Wagner $4,700 up front, but that Wagner hadn’t completed the job and refused her a refund. She said this had been going on for “some time,” and that Wagner had given her numerous excuses.

Roy said he contacted Wagner and tried to explain that it was in his best interest to pay up or finish the job. When Wagner refused, Roy summoned him for home-repair fraud.

Brewer police arrested an Orrington man on a charge of operating under the influence early Thursday.

Officer Paul Gauvin reported that at 1:30 a.m. he stopped a car that had been weaving as it traveled south on South Main Street near the Orrington line. Gauvin said the driver, Carl Anderson, 30, of Orrington had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. Gauvin said Anderson’s driver’s license had been suspended.

Anderson performed poorly on sobriety tests, Gauvin said, and was arrested for operating under the influence and operating after suspension.

Veazie police arrested an Augusta woman after she allegedly ran a stop sign Thursday night.

Officer Michael Adams said that at about 9 p.m. he saw a car drive through the stop sign at the intersection of Mount Hope Avenue and State Street. Adams stopped the car on State Street.

Adams said the driver, Kati-Lin Reed, 19, of Augusta, had a suspended driver’s license. She was arrested and charged with operating after suspension and displaying a suspended license.

Veazie police arrested a Greenbush woman Thursday night on an OUI charge.

Officer Michael Adams said that at about 11 p.m. he saw a car driving erratically on Stillwater Avenue near American Concrete Industries. Adams said he stopped the car to check on the driver’s welfare.

Adams said that the driver, Jessica Charette, 21, of Greenbush, smelled of alcohol. Adams said Charette performed poorly on sobriety tests and was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail. A breath test at the jail registered Charette’s blood alcohol content at 0.15 percent.

Beer thieves eluded police in Orono on Thursday night.

Orono Police Officer Robert Sinclair reported that at about 10:40 p.m. an employee at the Stillwater One Stop convenience store called, saying that two men in gray hooded sweat shirts had just left the store, each carrying a 24-pack of beer.

The men ran behind the building, the caller said. Officer Sinclair said the men were gone when he arrived.
