Brewer police arrested an Orrington man after his truck lodged in the snow Monday evening.

Officer Jeff Gotreau said that at about 6 p.m., he saw a Dodge pickup truck stuck in the snowbank outside the Muddy Rudder restaurant parking lot on Main Street. Gotreau said the driver was digging the truck out of the snow and declined help when Gotreau offered.

Gotreau approached the man and said he would try to stop traffic for his safety. At this point, Gotreau said, he smelled a fairly strong odor of alcohol.

Gotreau said the driver, identified as Henry Krohn, 48, of Orrington, admitted to drinking one beer. Gotreau said Krohn failed sobriety tests and was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence of intoxicants.

Bangor police summoned a man on a charge of driving to endanger Sunday afternoon.

Officer James Dearing said that in the late afternoon he was in the corner of the Bass Park parking lot when he saw a car drive into the lot, accelerate to 50 mph, then turn sideways and slide about 200 feet.

Dearing said the car was turned around and appeared to be heading for a second pass, when its headlights lighted upon Dearing’s cruiser. Dearing said the car then slowed down.

Dearing said the driver, John Geyerhahn, 19, of Bangor, at first said he was “just making a turn.” When Dearing told Geyerhahn he had seen the “turn,” Geyerhahn said he “was just being stupid.”

Bangor police summoned a man after he allegedly drove away from a gas station without paying for his fuel Sunday afternoon.

Officer Dan Herrick reported that at about 4 p.m. an employee at the Irving station on Odlin Road called to say a man had driven off with $23.35 worth of fuel without paying. A clerk at the store knew the man’s passenger, Herrick said.

Herrick said that he spoke by telephone with the passenger, who was on probation. The passenger didn’t want to turn in her friend but, Herrick said, if she didn’t tell him who had been driving, he would have to pass the report on to her probation officer.

The passenger’s mother called Herrick at about 8 p.m. to tell him the driver was Paul Dunton, who was staying in Bangor temporarily. At about 8:30 p.m., Herrick said, Dunton came to the station with the passenger. Dunton admitted driving off with the gas, but stressed that his passenger was not responsible.

Herrick summoned Dunton for theft.
