There is an old adage that states: “The operation was a success, but the patient died.” This describes the fate of senior citizens with the passage of the new Medicare bill. The article by Mark Sherman, “Medicare law aids HMOs, then seniors” (BDN, Dec. 10) clearly states the case in a nutshell. Congress spent much time on the operation but forgot the patient.
