Intoxicated man violates probation

Bangor police arrested a Veazie man early Friday for violating his probation conditions.

Officer Russell Twaddell reported that at about half past midnight he went to a Chase Road address in Bangor, where a man had tried repeatedly to enter a house.

Twaddell said he found a man later identified as Ryan Winslow, 23, of Veazie on the deck of the house. Winslow was very drunk, according to Twaddell, and said he was looking for his friend “Dell.”

Dispatch informed Twaddell that Winslow was on probation, with conditions forbidding the use or possession of alcohol.

According to Twaddell, the homeowner said Winslow had demanded entry to the house multiple times, then tried to get into the homeowner’s Jeep. The homeowner said he had never met Winslow or Dell.

Twaddell said a probation officer authorized a hold on Winslow. A breath test at the jail registered Winslow’s blood alcohol content at 0.23 percent.

Bangor police summoned a Glenburn woman after she allegedly ran a flashing red light early Friday.

Lt. Steve Hunt reported that at about 1:20 a.m. he stopped a van after seeing it drive through the flashing red light at the intersection of Oak and Washington streets.

Hunt said the driver, Tammy Cyr, 23, of Glenburn, couldn’t find her driver’s license, but gave him a card with her name on it. Hunt said a license check revealed that Cyr’s license was suspended, and was scheduled to remain so until October 2006, because of Cyr’s status as a habitual offender.

Hunt summoned Cyr for operating after suspension as a habitual offender, and drove her to a friend’s house in Bangor.

Brewer police arrested a Winterport man for speeding early Friday.

Officer Nelson Feero said that at about 1:15 a.m. he was on North Main Street near the Penobscot County Conservation Association when he saw a vehicle heading north at a high speed. Feero said he clocked the vehicle at 81 mph.

Feero said he stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, Richard Hyatt, 23, of Winterport, on a charge of exceeding the speed limit by 30 mph or more.

Feero said a search of the vehicle revealed a pipe and a corked glass jar containing marijuana. Hyatt was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Orono police summoned a woman after she allegedly drove away from an accident in Bangor Thursday night.

Bangor police Officer Russell Twaddell reported that at about 8:30 p.m. a Hermon woman reported that her car had been rear-ended on Exit 48 of Interstate 95.

Twaddell said the woman told him the other driver, who identified herself as Marvet Swaby, 35, of Orono, drove off when the Hermon woman said she had to call the police to report the accident.

Twaddell said Orono police Officer William King located Swaby, who allegedly said she thought the other driver had been “all set.” King, at Twaddell’s request, charged Swaby with leaving the scene of an accident. King said Swaby was cooperative.
