ORONO – Recently a group of 26 area farmers raising vegetables, fruits and livestock products, organized as The Maine Highlands Farm Products Promotion Group, released the 2003 Highlands Food and Farm map.

The organization’s members, farm names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses are listed in the map, along with the agricultural products and services they have available so customers can find local farms to provide food and other farm products.

The 11-inch by 17-inch, two-sided, full-color map is available for free to consumers in the Piscataquis and Penobscot area. Those interested can pick up copies at area Chambers of commerce, libraries, Soil and Water Conservation District offices and the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office.

Member farmers also have a supply of maps.
