Orono earns 2OT victory over Foxcroft

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Emily Sypher scored four of her 12 points in the second overtime period Thursday night as the Orono Red Riots pulled out a 62-59 girls basketball victory over the Ponies.

Stacey Saucier paced Orono with 16 points and Marie Lint netted 10.

Coral Goggin tossed in a game-high 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and made five steals for Foxcroft Academy, which battled back from a 12-point halftime deficit to force overtime.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Zac Greenier and Tyler Cyr each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Crusaders of Bangor past the Minutemen.

Ron St. Pierre and Kyle Maynard also scored for 4-8 Bapst, and Josh Hunnefield had an assist.

Dan Leighton made 28 saves on 29 shots for the Crusaders.

Derek McGillicuddy tallied for 1-7 Stearns of Millinocket off an assist from Ryan Bouchard. Jay Kim turned back 25 of the 29 shots he faced.

At Mount Desert, Brian O’Connell and Robin Daley each netted 12 points to help lead Mount Desert Island to the upset over Hermon.

Andy Pooler and Booth Dargis both scored 10 points for the Trojans.
