Wisdom edges Owls Anderson sinks winning FTs

ST. AGATHA – Heather Anderson hit two free throws with six seconds left in overtime to lift Wisdom by Madawaska 52-51 for its first schoolgirl basketball win of the season Monday.

Anderson finished with 16 points while Amber Voisine chipped in with 12 for the Pioneers.

Michelle Lavertu’s 20 points led all scorers for the Owls. Martine Daigle added 11.

At Fort Kent, Cassie White scored 12 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks pull away from the Warriors.

White finished with a game-high 23 points for Hermon. Malerie Hall tossed in 13 points. Shannon Wiggin and Marissa McLeod added 12 and 10, respectively.

Mindy Morneault led Fort Kent with 12 points and Kristin Violette scored 11 for the Warriors, who outscored the Hawks 19-10 in the third quarter.

Randy Ouellette added 16 points and Seth Rivera 10 for the Warriors, who took control of the game in the fourth quarter.

Senior guard Jesse Keith led Hermon with 37 points, while Adam Duplisea added 13.

At Washburn, Jason Thompson scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Chris Pesut contributed 20 points and 13 rebounds as Washburn triumphed over Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Pesut had 10 first-quarter points as Washburn jumped out to a 23-4 lead. Zach Bird had 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Beavers.
