Maine schools to enter marine science bowl

High school students from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont will soon participate in the Nor-Easter Bowl, a competition that will test their knowledge of marine science.

The competition will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at the University of New England in Biddeford. Teams will be given questions covering all aspects of marine science, including physics, chemistry, geology, atmospheric science, biology, technology, economics, history and culture.

The winning team will represent the northern New England area in the national competition, which will be held in April in Charleston, S.C.

Teams from Maine include Biddeford High School, Central High School (Corinth), Gray-New Gloucester High School, Lincoln Academy (Newcastle), Morse High School (Bath), Mount Desert Island High School, Mr. Ararat High School (Topsham), Poland Regional High School, Thornton Academy (Saco), Upper Kennebec Valley High School (Bingham) and Waterville High School.
