MARS HILL – Patrick Willett scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the second half to lead the Katahdin Cougars to a 64-63 schoolboy basketball victory over the previously undefeated Central Aroostook Panthers Tuesday night.
Brian Sullivan added 15 points for the Cougars, and Owen McCarthy had 13.
Andrew York’s 14 points were tops for Central Aroostook, which was beset by misfortune. Starting point guard Jason Woodworth injured an ankle and missed the second half, starting center Patrick Walsh suffered a bloody nose and missed the fourth quarter, and career 1,000-point scorer Bryan Grew fouled out with four minutes left in the game.
Grew finished with 11 points, and Taylor McLaughlin and Tim Carlson had 10 each.
