Glenburn man arrested in alleged assault on co-worker

Brewer police summoned a Glenburn man Tuesday evening after he allegedly assaulted a co-worker.

Officer Nelson Feero said that at about 6 p.m., he went to a Pierce Road business and spoke with an employee who said Scott Ashe, 34, of Glenburn, had called him a “punk” and grabbed him by the neck.

Feero said the man did have marks on his neck, and that Ashe did not deny assaulting his co-worker. A witness told Feero he saw Ashe push the complainant against a wall. Ashe was charged with assault.

Officer Nelson Feero said that at about 11:30 p.m., he went to a Chamberlain Street address, where he met a woman who was bleeding from her ear.

The woman told Feero that Thomas O’Toole, 37, of Brewer, had punched her in the face. When she tried to call the police, the woman said, O’Toole grabbed the phone and hit her in the ear. Feero charged O’Toole with assault and obstruction of the reporting of a crime.

Bangor police summoned a man who was driving unusually slow Tuesday night.

Officer Doug Moore reported that at about 10:45 p.m., he and Officer James Hassard were near the Ranger Inn on Outer Hammond Street when they saw a gray GMC Jimmy exiting the inn’s parking lot.

Moore said the SUV waited a significant amount of time before turning onto the road.

As Moore followed the SUV down Outer Hammond Street, he noticed that it was moving at 30 mph in a 40 mph zone. “Most vehicles travel faster than this in this area,” he noted.

Moore had dispatch check the plate number, and discovered that it belonged to a green Ford Explorer. Moore pulled the SUV over after it turned onto Odlin Road. Speaking with the driver and his girlfriend, Moore learned that the plates came from the girlfriend’s vehicle.

Moore summoned the driver, James Moore, 30, of Bangor, for illegal attachment of plates, and cited him for failing to provide evidence of insurance.

Brewer police arrested a man for violation of probation Tuesday night, his third such arrest since he was put on probation.

Officer Rodney Gerald reported that at about 10 p.m., he was informed that Phillip Banks, of Brewer, was drinking. Banks had been on probation in connection with an OUI arrest in October, and was not permitted to drink.

Gerald went to Banks’ residence. Banks admitted to drinking, Gerald said, and his probation officer authorized a probation hold. At Penobscot County Jail, Gerald said, a breath test confirmed that there was a significant amount of alcohol in Banks’ system.

Police say Banks was also arrested in December and in January under similar circumstances.

Officer Steve Jordan said that on Tuesday evening, he spoke with an Everett Street woman who told him a man came and took her cat.

The woman said the man gave her the cat six weeks ago. Jordan said Brewer police will attempt to contact the suspect. The cat is black, white and gray.
