WATERVILLE – Ramon Garcia connected for a game-high 25 points Friday night to lead Bates College of Lewiston to an 80-73 men’s basketball victory over Colby College.
Brian Gerrity added 20 points, while Rob Stockwell scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bobcats.
Colby got 16 points and five blocked shots from Drew Cohen. Andrew Jenkins netted 14 more.

At Lewiston, Betsy Hochadel and Olivia Zurek each recorded a double-double to power the Bobcats past the White Mules of Waterville.
Hochadel had 22 points and 12 rebounds while Zurek had 18 points and 16 rebounds. Meg Coffin chipped in with 13 points.
Kate Emery paced Colby with 14 points, Laura Williamson added 11 and Wendy Bonner and Billi Blanchard each put in 10.

AMHERST, Mass. – Gabe Winer made 18 saves, coming within 1:11 of a shutout, as Massachusetts beat New Hampshire 4-1 on Friday night.
Four different players scored for UMass (16-5-5, 12-3-2 Hockey East), which never trailed.
The Minutemen took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Nick Kuiper and James Solon, Garrett Summerfield and Josh Hanson scored in the second period to put UMass ahead 4-0.
New Hampshire (15-10-3, 7-6-3) spoiled Winer’s shutout bid when Justin Aikins scored a power-play goal at 18:49 of the third period.
Jeff Pietrasiak made 23 saves for UNH.
