Sangerville town manager abruptly resigns post

SANGERVILLE – In a surprise move Thursday evening, Martin Puckett resigned as town manager.

The Sangerville Board of Selectmen accepted his resignation effective Feb. 26 after an executive session was held to discuss personnel matters.

“The board and the town manager have differed on the vision of the town and have amicably parted. The board wishes the best for Martin in his next endeavor and thanks him for his past efforts,” according to a statement released by the town office Friday morning.

Puckett was hired for the position in 2000.

Selectman Cynthia Hall said the board had asked Alice Moulton, the former administrative assistant and town clerk, to perform some of the town office functions until the board decides what action to take in the future.

“We’re very grateful that she’s agreed to help us through this difficult time,” Hall said.

Hall said the municipal budget is near completion and selectmen will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 1, to complete the spending plan. The local budget committee will conduct its review of the budget at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 3.
