Erland sparks Eagles

BLUE HILL – Jamie Wood singled and scored on a single by Denise Erland in the ninth inning to lift the George Stevens Academy Eagles to a 6-5 schoolgirl softball victory over the Sumner Tigers Monday.

Liz Tyler paced George Stevens Academy with a three-run home run in the sixth and a single. Deborah Richardson singled twice behind winner Jessie Conley.

Meghan Philio tripled and singled and Jill Osier singled twice for Sumner of East Sullivan. Rachel Philio stroked a three-run homer.

At Belfast, Allyson Ferguson pitched a three-hit shutout and had three singles, leading Oak Hill to victory.

Danielle Sargent had three singles for the Raiders of Sabbatus while Ashley Grondin and Crystal Belanger each had two singles.

For Belfast, Melissa Brown, Morgan Crandall and Melissa Gray all had singles.

At MDI, Jenna Gordius scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth when she singled, advanced to third on an Alisha Boisvert bunt, and came home on a wild pitch to lift the Trojans.

Boisvert finished with three singles and a double for Mount Desert Island. Jaime Daugherty hit three singles and Bracey Barker singled twice.

Keegan Richard led the Crusaders of Bangor with two singles, a double and an RBI. Rebecca Stevens hit three singles.

At Bangor, Lisa Phinney hit a two-run, two-out single in the sixth to put Bangor Christian in the lead and give it the win.

Renee Mick hit a double and had three RBIs while striking out four and allowing no runs in her season pitching debut.

Danielle Miller had two singles and scored three runs for the Patriots while Nicole Pelletier hit three singles and Gabby Eastman added two singles.

For Deer Isle-Stonington, Hollan Oliver had two singles and scored two runs.

At Bucksport, junior righthander Kelly White allowed only one hit while striking out nine and walking one to spark the Golden Bucks.

Ashley McAllian paced the Bucks with a double, single and three RBIs. Jessica Taylor chipped in with a triple, RBI double and single and Annette Caswell drove in three runs on two sacrifice flies and an RBI single.

Tessa Miller singled in the fifth for the Eagles.

At Lee, Jessie Keuster had a double and three singles for three RBIs, helping carry Lee to victory.

Ashley Linscott drove in three runs on two singles while Deidra Ham had a triple and a single. Carrie Moors hit a single and a double while Kristen Hersom and Tiffany Raymond had two singles apiece.

Meagan Cyr had a double for Penobscot Valley of Howland while Krystal Levesque and Kylie McGinn had singles.

At Dexter, Briley Belanger’s three-run double highlighted an eight-run first-inning rally and Kristy Veazie belted a three-run triple in a nine-run fifth for Dexter.

Cindy Koscielny had three singles and two RBIs for the Tigers and winner Karen Nelson scattered four hits in her five-inning stint.

Krystal Terrill had two singles for the Hawks.

At MDI, Andy Tremble drove in four runs on four singles to lead the Crusaders to the win.

Zach Means chipped in with a double, three singles and three RBIs for John Bapst of Bangor.

Brad Dalton paced the Trojans with an RBI double, Brandon Colbeth hit an RBI single, and John Dow singled twice.

At Bangor, Tom Klemenz slapped an RBI single in the top of the sixth to give the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners the winning edge over the Bangor Christian Patriots.

Eric Ray chipped in with a two-run single and triple for the winners and Bennett Gray added a two-run double. Ray and Gray’s RBI hits came in their sixth-run second.

Tyler Wilson paced the Patriots with a two-run home run and a two-run single. David Chrisos slammed a two-run double and Ben Sobey added a two-run single.

At Blue Hill, George Stevens Academy pitcher Mike Cowperthwaite outdueled Chris Sargent to keep the Eagles unbeaten at 7-0.

Jed Garvey had a triple and single for one RBI while Chris Candage delivered the game-winning run with a sixth-inning single.

For Sumner of East Sullivan, Blake Alley hit a three-run home run in the third and doubled. Dustin Young hit three singles and J.J. Phinney hit two.

At Rockport, Peter Moro’s two-run single in the seventh gave the Windjammers the victory.

Grady Peck started the seventh-inning rally when he reached on an error and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Pat Aylward then reached on an error and his pinch runner, Dustin O’Brien, stole second to set up Moro’s winning hit.

Aylward four-hit the Tigers while striking out nine and walking only one. Will Dennen added a double.

Adam Ross scored for the Tigers in the fourth on a passed ball when he reached on an error, advanced to second on Kevin Glover’s single and to third when Casey Kenniston reached on an error. Ross, the hard-luck loser, allowed only three hits while striking out four and walking two.

At Brewer, Joel Barrett struck out nine for Brewer while Kyle Dalton put down 11 for Hamden in a pitchers duel that ended with a run scored on a sacrifice fly by Tony Doucette.

Barrett also had two doubles and an RBI while Adam Freeman hit a single and scored a run. Chris Cote scored the winning run for Brewer.

Andrew Williams had an RBI single for Hampden while Matt Jackson and Aaron Morrell both had singles.

At East Millinocket, Nick Beaulieu led Stearns with a double and two singles for two RBIs.

Brad Wheaton contributed a solo home run and three RBIs while Jason Cummings added a solo homer and Brad Cyr had two singles for the Minutemen of Millinocket.

Jeff Osborne hit three singles for Schenck and Adam Dempsey and Mike Hamlin had RBI singles.

Bruce Stevens hit a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth and finished with a double and two singles for Lee. Ham chipped in with an RBI single.

Brody Artes and Jeremy Hallett singled for Penobscot Valley of Howland. Stu Morin had a sacrifice fly.

For the Tigers, Adam Russell hit a two-run double and Derek Sawyer had an RBI double.
