An unknown Packers fan stole a cordless drill from a Bangor convenience store Wednesday afternoon.
An employee of the Main Street Irving Mainway store told Bangor police Officer Wade Betters that at about 5:15 p.m. two men came into the store. One of them picked up a drill that was lying on the floor near the bathroom. The man took the drill into the bathroom and came out without it.
The employee told Betters that the drill was a giveaway item for a store promotion and valued at $125. The theft was recorded by security cameras, Betters said. The suspect is a white male, 6 feet tall, in his mid-20s, about 200 pounds, with brown hair and sideburns. He was wearing a blue and white baseball cap and a Green Bay Packers jacket.
Bangor police arrested a woman after she allegedly trashed her apartment Thursday evening, breaking some of her boyfriend’s property.
Officer Wade Betters reported that at about 7:20 p.m. he and Officer Chris Morley went to a Main Street address, where they met a man in the parking lot who told them, “I just want her out, man!” The man said his girlfriend, Dawn Lemelin, 30, of Bangor, had smashed his stuff.
Lemelin then came out of the apartment building screaming and yelling, until Officer Betters gave her a disorderly conduct warning. They all went inside to survey the damage, Betters said.
Betters said the apartment was cluttered, with a broken picture frame and glass scattered on the floor, the telephone wall mount ripped out of the wall and the coffee table tipped over. When Betters asked Lemelin to explain her side of the story, she accused her boyfriend of beating her up a few days ago.
Betters said that when he asked Lemelin to explain just what happened Thursday night, she said, “Of course you [do], you [men] always stick together.” Lemelin continued be agitated but never talked about the damage, Betters said. He arrested her and charged her with criminal mischief.
Bangor police arrested a Newburgh man on a charge of operating under the influence of intoxicants Thursday evening.
Officer Brad Hanson reported that at about 6:40 p.m. he was notified that Detective Paul Edwards was following a red Chevrolet that was being driving erratically. Edwards was in his own personal vehicle.
Hanson said the two cars pulled into the Irving gas station on Broadway. Hanson pulled in right after them and saw the driver of the Chevrolet, Lloyd Simpson, 42, of Newburgh, get out of his car and stagger to the fuel pump.
Hanson spoke with Simpson, who admitted he had been drinking. Hanson said he could smell alcohol on Simpson’s breath. Dispatch informed Hanson that Simpson’s license had a condition on it forbidding him to drive with any alcohol in his system.
Hanson said Simpson performed poorly on sobriety tests and started goose-stepping during the “one leg stand” test. He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of intoxicants and operating without a license.
