McGhee, Lemieux lead Southern Maine to win

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Freshman Josh McGhee singled four times and drove in three runs to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to an 8-3 baseball victory over Williams College Monday.

Adam Lemieux hit three singles for the Huskies and Tip Fairchild tripled and doubled. Ryan Bourque singled and knocked in two runs.

Paul Morgan doubled and singled for Williams College.

USM splits with Frostburg

At Seminole, Fla., Sunday, freshman Ryan Bourque had a triple and knocked in five runs to help lead the University of Southern Maine past Frostburg State in the first game 12-2. The Bobcats won the second game 8-1.

In the first game, Brian Marshall pitched a complete game in his first start and allowed only one earned run and he also hit a triple for the Huskies. Joe Ganley doubled.

Scott Feller singled twice for Frostburg State.

In the second game, Feller had three singles for the Bobcats and drove in a run and Chris Baugher had two RBIs.

Bourque hit a double and drove in a run for Southern Maine and Adam Lemieux had two singles.

At Fort Myers, Fla., Renee Heath drove in the winning run in the top of the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly to give the University of Southern Maine a 4-3 win in their first game. Wisconsin-Whitewater beat the Huskies in their second game 3-2.

In the first game, Darci Holland hit three singles and drove in a run for USM and Katie Mainville scattered seven hits for the victory

Jenny Burris drove in two runs in the seventh inning to tie the game for Lawrence.

In the second game, Amanda Thompson drove in two runs for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Kristen Tong doubled for the Huskies and Heath and Holland each had a RBI.
