Furniture school plans expansion in Rockport

ROCKPORT – The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship has completed a $2.4 million capital campaign to expand facilities and create an opportunity for more people in Maine and across the country to learn and hone the art of furniture making. In April, the center will break ground on a 4,600-square-foot workshop that will house its studio fellowship program. The fund-raising effort already has resulted in the addition of a 5,600-square-foot workshop called the Main Building and a new gallery building.

Founded in 1992 and established as a nonprofit educational organization in 1999, the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship enrolls more than 270 students a year in classes taught by nationally known instructors.
