Kenduskeag Stream Race

KENDUSKEAG – The 38th annual Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, in Kenduskeag Village.

The Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is a 16.5-mile open water course. There are 23 different classes of competition, and all canoes must meet ACA WW open canoe specifications.

Preregistrations will be accepted until 1 p.m. Friday, April 16. After that time, registrants will be considered a “race day” registration, and will start at the end of the line on Saturday. The prerace registration fee is $17 per person. The race day fee is $27 per person. Participants must be at least 12 years old, and those under 16 must have an adult in the boat with them.

Race registration forms are available at the Bangor Parks and Recreation Office at 647 Main St., Epic Sports, the Old Town Canoe Store or the Ski Rack in Bangor. All race registrations must be returned to Bangor Parks and Recreation.

Fast-pitch softball league

For those interested in softball, openings are available in the Eastern Maine Girls ASA Fast-Pitch Softball League in the age groups 14 and under, 16 and under, and 18 and under.

Games are played Wednesday nights at the Union Street Athletics Complex. Call Alan Dall at 942-5610 to learn more about the league, or e-mail bangorbab@aol.com.

Instructional T-ball

BANGOR – The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department will hold an instructional T-ball program 4-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursday, May 4-2, at the Union Street Athletic Complex. The program is geared for 5- and 6-year-olds. A different component of T-ball will be taught each day.

The fee for the program is $20 for Bangor residents, $25 for others. To register, call the rec department at 947-1018.

Mighty Mite soccer

BANGOR – The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Mighty Mite soccer program 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays, April 28-May 26, at the Union Street Athletic Complex. The program is designed for children ages two-six.

The fee for the program is $15 for Bangor residents, $20 for others and includes a T-shirt. To register for the program, call the rec department at 947-1018.
