The Bangor Daily News cartoon (April 8) portraying Arabs lining up at a bank to deposit oil profits is misleading and an ethnic slur. It would be unthinkable for the BDN to portray Jews or African Americans in a comparably stereotyped manner.

This implies that OPEC is an exclusively Arab organization when it fact it includes non-Arab countries such as Venezuela, Indonesia and Iran. I hope the BDN will avoid such slurs in the future.
