FARMINGTON – Miki Starr tripled and scored both runs Tuesday to lead Colby College of Waterville to a 2-0 softball victory over the University of Maine-Farmington.
Elizabeth Riley singled twice and Kate Hurd knocked in a run for Colby. Lauren Olmsted and Lindsey Toomey combined to allow only three hits, no runs, and no walks while fanning four.
Liz Seubert tripled for UM-Farmington.

USM shuts out Plymouth State
At Gorham, Katie Mainville and Melissa Henderson each tossed shutouts to help lead the University of the Southern Maine to the sweep.
In the first game, Mainvile (13-1) gave up three singles while striking out nine. Jessie Becher doubled with an RBI.
In the second game, Henderson struck out six and allowed four hits and one walk for the Huskies. Kristen Tong hit a pair of singles.
Maria Curren doubled for Plymouth State.
