DEDHAM, Mass. – The University of Maine women’s track team placed fourth in Saturday’s America East Championships at Northeastern University, while the Black Bear men finished seventh.
Freshman Hana Pelletier of Belgrade led the Maine women to 93 points, winning the 800 in 2:10.09. The women’s 3,200 relay team of Pelletier, Heather Jovanelli of Brewer, Amanda Virgets, and Kristen Vidlak also was victorious in a school-record time of 9:08.02. Katie Page of Palmyra placed second in the discus with a school record of 144 feet, 3 inches. She also placed third in the shot put (43-101/2).
Nate Holmes of Westbrook led the Maine men (50 points), finishing fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 110 hurdles.
