Thompsons lift Beavers to win Roy, Cyr RBIs keep Owls unbeaten

WASHBURN – Junior Jason Thompson pitched a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and one walk and also scored the winning run as the Washburn Beavers nipped Southern Aroostook 3-1 in high school baseball action Friday afternoon.

Washburn broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth. Thompson and Seth Knowlton each singled and stole a base. Thompson scored on a dropped third strike, and Knowlton scored on Adam Thompson’s double.

Adam Anderson and Griffin Hardy combined to pitch a four-hitter for the Warriors of Dyer Brook. Zack Austin singled for the lone hit.

Madawaska 14, Fort Kent 13

At Madawaska, Billy Roy doubled home two runs in the bottom of the seventh and Gil Cyr followed with a single to plate the winning run for the Owls.

Fort Kent had taken a 13-11 lead in the top of the seventh on a Matt Beaulieu double, an RBI single by Adam Jandreau, and a fielder’s choice.

Cyr finished with four singles and three RBIs, while Peter Girard had two triples and a single and Roy and Mark Sirois each doubled and singled twice to support the solid relief pitching of sophomore Paul Roy.

Taylor Marquis led Fort Kent with a triple and two singles, while Beaulieu, Jandreau and Derek Bonenfant each doubled and singled.

At Danforth, Derrick Beal doubled twice and drove in two runs for Jonesport-Beals.

Reggie Mitchell added an RBI and Abraham Beal struck out 10.

Eric Hannington drove in one run for the Vikings and Micah Barnes struck out 12.

At Houlton on Thursday, Mike Cleary had a single and drove in two runs in the Shiretowners’ win.

Harry Austin added an RBI double.

Bruce Currie doubled, singled and drove in one run. Jimmy Griffin had a double for the Hawks.

At Deer Isle, Collin Henry hit a two-run homer in the first inning and singled to pace George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.

Lance Gail had three singles and an RBI for the Eagles.

Bryant Ciomei singled twice and Nick Ciomei hit a solo homer in the first for the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners.

At Machias, Cody Billmer hit a two-run home run and a double for the Tigers of Eastport.

Anthony Lewey added a double and a single and Derek Maloney singled twice for Shead, which rallied from an early 3-0 deficit.

Isaiah Roberts had three singles for Machias, while Marcus Frutchey singled twice and Austin Roberts and Jesse Bunker each doubled.

At Belfast, Pat Howell and Ryan Parlin each had three singles for Lincoln Academy of Newcastle.

Parlin also had two RBIs for the Eagles, while Ben Buckland had two singles and three RBIs, Eric Gimbel had two singles and two RBIs, and Joe Clark singled twice.

Paul Herman led Belfast with a two-run home run and a single, while Nick Arthers and Silas Ratten each had a double, single, and RBI.

At Houlton, Michelle Ives pitched a one-hitter in five innings, striking out six and walking four, to lead the Shiretowners by the Vikings.

Anna Lenentine paced the Shiretowners with a three-run homer, a solo homer, and RBI double. Michelle Varney chipped in with two singles and an RBI and Ives had two singles.

Emily St. Peter hit an RBI single in the third for Caribou.

At Madawaska, Leah Babin hit a solo home run in the fourth, doubled, and singled to pace Fort Kent’s offense.

Melissa Morneault hit a solo homer in the sixth and singled while Trisha Desjardin added two singles and an RBI for the Warriors.

Erin Pelletier had a three-run homer in the first and a single for the Owls. Sarah Nadeau singled twice.

Jen Dorfman doubled and singled (RBI) to back relief winner Brittany Strout.

Lindsey Beaulieu plated three runs with a triple, double and single for Limestone/Maine School of Science and Mathematics. Vicki Mulherin singled twice.

Jessica Whittaker also tripled for Calais, and Darcey Gillespie added an RBI single.

Justine Ramsdell, Lauren Finn and Meghan Look each singled for the Raiders of East Machias.

Rachael Joyce hit a triple and a single to drive in a run for Orono and Jessica Bates hit a double with an RBI.
