Shires slip by Devils Houlton scores three in seventh

HOULTON – Natasha Ritchie hit an RBI single to cap a three-run seventh-inning rally Saturday as the Houlton Shiretowners eked out a 9-8 high school softball victory over Calais.

Anna Lenentine tripled, doubled, singled, and drove in two runs for Houlton.

For the Blue Devils, Emily Wilk hit a home run, two singles and two RBIs. Chrisy Driscoll added two singles.

Old Town sweeps Presque Isle

At Presque Isle, Erin Reardon singled with two outs in the eighth inning, scoring Jamie Gomm, to give Old Town the 4-2 win in the first game. Old Town won the second game 12-0.

In the first game, Reardon doubled and singled to drive in a run for Old Town and Gomm struck out six and walked none.

Shawna Nadeau hit two singles and scored both Presque Isle runs.

In the second game, Monica Hussey hit two home runs and singled twice for four RBIs for Old Town. Alicia Day hit a triple and a double with two RBIs and Amanda Littlefield singled twice.

Danielle Dyer doubled for Presque Isle.

Bangor Christian wins two

At Stacyville, Amber Leathers doubled and singled in the Patriots’ 11-3 opening-game win, the hit a bases-loaded triple in the second game as Bangor Christian went on to win 20-16.

In the first game, Lindsay Albert had a single and a double and Shelly Martin had two singles for the Cougars.

In the second game, Annie Babineau singled and tripled for the Patriots.

Brook Smallwood had three singles for Katahdin.

Presque Isle sweeps Old Town

At Presque Isle, Chad Lavway, Kyle Gagnon and Adam Swanson hit consecutive singles to open the game as the Wildcats amassed 17 hits on their way to a 16-4 victory in the first game of a doubleheader. Presque Isle won the second game 4-3.

In the first game, Gagnon collected three singles, a double and four RBIs. Swanson had a single, a double and two RBIs. For the Indians, Josh Macho singled three times.

In the second game, Gagnon singled three times to pace the Wildcats. Chris Parsons and Derrek Belanger had a double and a single each while Jeff Cole and Tim Morrison each singled twice.

Old Town’s Cory Estes had two singles with an RBI.

Katahdin splits with BC Patriots

At Staceyville, Frank Grass singled and stroked two doubles as Katahdin beat Bangor Christian 13-7 in the first game of a doubleheader. The Patriots won the second game 14.4

In the first game, Bangor Christian’s Willy Hinckley doubled twice.

In the second game, D.J. McCleary led the Patriots with three doubles and a single. Pat Willet hit a home run and a double.

Steve Blake and Josh Frost had two singles and a double each for the Patriots.
