BANGOR – The Husson Braves split a four-game Sunrise Conference weekend series against Fisher College of Boston, earning the top seed for this week’s NAIA Regional to be hosted by the Braves at Winkin Complex.
Husson swept Saturday’s games, 6-5 in 10 innings and 5-3, then Fisher came back to sweep on Sunday, 3-2 and 2-0.
Coach John Winkin’s 24-15 Braves will play Thursday at 6 p.m. against the loser of the 2 p.m. game between No. 2 Fisher and No. 3 Lyndon State.
In Saturday’s opener, Aaron Brideau scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Mathieu in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Husson the win.
Justin Spencer hit a double and two singles with an RBI for Husson and Steve Estes doubled and singled.
Pat Gaffny had four singles for Fisher of Boston. Justo Rodriguez and Victor Joaquin each had two singles.
In Saturday’s second game, Jason Folsom hit a two-run double in the sixth inning for Husson and Shawn Henderson sealed the win with a two-run single. Bill Kane also singled to knock in a run.
Dave Iacono hit a two-run home run and two singles for two RBIs for Fisher.
In Sunday’s first game, Gaffny hit two singles and drove in the game-winning run for Fisher in the seventh.
Spencer tripled and singled for Husson.
In Sunday’s second game, Alfredo Torres hit a double and a single with an RBI for Fisher and Luis Lara had two singles with an RBI.

At Gorham Sunday, Brandon Brewer singled in the bottom of the 10th inning to drive in Joe Ganley and give the Huskies the victory.
Brewer hit a double and four singles with three RBIs for the Huskies and Ryan Bourque homered and doubled. Nick Vardaro and Ganley each hit a triple and a single and Brian Marshall doubled and singled.
Keith Vera doubled to drive in three runs for Babson.

At Gorham Saturday, the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors captured the Little East Conference regular-season title with 6-3 and 14-7 wins over Southern Maine.
In the first game, Dwight Wildman and Leon Galemba had back-to-back home runs for Eastern Connecticut. Ryan Bourque doubled to bring in a run for USM in the seventh.
In the second game, the Huskies were paced by senior Brian Marshall’s double and and single good for four RBIs. Adam Lemieux had two hits, including a triple, with an RBI.

At Northampton, Mass., on Sunday, Stephanie Adams doubled home the winning run to give the Coast Guard a victory over the Huskies in an elimination game of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Softball Championship tournament.

At Northampton, Mass., Saturday, Kristen Tong hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the University of Southern Maine the 1-0 win over Coast Guard in the first game. Smith College took the second game 3-2 in the ECAC Tournament.
In the first game, Melissa Henderson pitched a two-hitter while striking out nine and walked none for the Huskies.
In the second game, Amber Bourque-Laycsak scored the winning run on a Amanda Thompson single for Smith College.
Renee Heath doubled and singled for Southern Maine and Caterina Riitano singled twice.
