Fort Fairfield nips Hodgdon

FORT FAIRFIELD – Tyler Bernaiche singled, stole second and later scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Tigers edged the Hawks.

Jesse Sayers doubled and singled while Bernaiche singled twice for Fort Fairfield to back Jon Everett’s six-hitter.

Jeff Condon rapped two doubles for Hodgdon.

Houlton sweeps Fort Kent

At Houlton, Corey Lewis drove in Ben Pierce, who had tripled, with a single in the fifth inning to give the Shiretowners the winning run in the first game of a doubleheader sweep against the Warriors. Houlton won the opener 4-3 and took the second game 16-2.

In the opener, Ryan Schools pitched a six-hitter, striking out eight and walking two, for Houlton. Pierce added a single, while Ian Pasquarelli plated two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly.

Derek Bonenfant stroked a two-run single for Fort Kent to back Matt Bouchard, who scattered seven hits.

In Game 2, Harry Austin lined four doubles good for five RBIs as the Shires won big. Schools doubled twice and singled while Pierce provided a double and two singles.

Bonenfant stroked an RBI single for the Warriors and Bud Soucy added a single.

At Dyer Brook, Southern Aroostook pitchers combined to allow only three runs and four hits as the Warriors swept the Hornets, 13-1 and 6-2.

In the opener, Jeff Boutilier pitched a two-hitter, striking out 11 and walking two, in the five-inning victory. Zack Austin doubled and singled with two RBIs and Adam Anderson hit two singles with three RBIs.

Evan Boutilier smacked a two-run home run and a single while Griffin Hardy singled twice.

Matt Saucier hit and RBI single for Ashland.

In Game 2, Zack Austin struck out eight in three innings, combining with Travis Brooker and Hardy on a two-hitter.

Hardy stroked a double and two singles with an RBI and Evan McGary singled twice for the Warriors.

Jeremy Baker singled twice for the Hornets.

At Mars Hill, five pitchers combined on a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts and 14 walks as the Panthers rolled.

Eric Martinez drove in three runs on a double and a single for Central Aroostook. Brian Grew singled twice, had two RBIs and earned the win. R.J. Richardson doubled and singled (two RBIs) and Jeff Clockedile singled twice.

Gabe Hrynick singled for Limestone’s only hit. Chad Peers, Kenny Suitter and Lance Masse each drew a bases-loaded walk for an RBI.

At Hermon, Andy Berry doubled and singled to knock in two runs and help lead Ellsworth past Hermon.

Chris Maguire and Chris Remick each had an RBI single for the Golden Bucks.

Leland Faulkingham singled twice with two RBIs for Jonesport-Beals and Abraham Beal doubled and singled with an RBI.

At Dyer Brook, Chelsea Collier hit a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh inning and Carmen McLaughlin drove her home with a single to give Southern Aroostook a 13-12 win in the first game. The Warriors took the second game 11-8.

In the first game, Collier had two doubles and a single with three RBIs and Amanda Charette hit a double and three singles with two RBIs.

Pam Spooner hit two doubles and a single with three RBIs for Ashland and Danielle Long had two singles and three RBIs.

In the second game, Charette had two doubles and a single with one RBI for the Warriors and Raya King added two doubles with two RBIs.

Ashlee Peters hit two doubles and a single with two RBIs for the Hornets and Amber Smith doubled and singled.

At Fort Fairfield, the Tigers took advantage of 13 walks and Dani Searles hit two singles with two RBIs as the Tigers beat the Hawks.

Kaylee Searles also singled twice for Fort Fairfield.

Hodgdon’s Erin Foster hit a three-run homer. Tasha Dwyer hit two singles and an RBI.

Houlton sweeps Fort Kent

At Houlton, Natasha Ritchie gave up no runs and four walks while striking out 15 to help Houlton to the 18-7 win in the first game. The Shiretowners also won the second game 20-6.

In the first game, Ritchie hit a two-run homer and a single for three RBIs for Houlton and Anna Lenentine had a triple, double and two singles with an RBI. Michelle Ives had two singles with three RBIs and Laurie Bissonnette singled twice.

Shannon Morneault hit an RBI single.

In the second game, Bissonnette hit a grand slam and singled for the Shiretowners. Michelle Ives hit a double and two singles with two RBIs and Ritchie doubled and singled to drive in four runs.

Melissa Morneault hit two singles for Fort Kent.

At Jonesport, Jen Hutchins collected a triple and four singles the Patriots prevailed.

Alice Andrews had three singles with two RBIs for the Golden Bucks while Smith doubled and singled. Katie Hurd doubled and singled with three RBIs. Terri Jordan and Kristi Allen each had three singles.

Emma Stanley singled twice Mount Desert Island and Lynne Bowden doubled.

At Woodland, pinch hitter Erin Crowe hit a two-run, bases-loaded single in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and seal a win for the Dragons.

Woodland’s Kaitlyn Leeman added an RBI single in the fifth. Katie Smith scattered four hits and fanned six.

Narraguagus of Harrington’s Elise Dublin took the loss despite allowing only three hits and striking out 10. She tripled and Chelsea Baker doubled.

At Milo, Alyssa Libby pitched a no-hitter, striking out nine while walking eight and hitting two batters, as the Red Devils edged the Patriots.

Shawna Bell provided the game’s only run in the second inning when she doubled, advanced on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch. Jenny Rollins and Chantel Randall added singles for Central of Corinth.

Dani Graves was the hard-luck loser, firing a three-hitter with five strikeouts and one walk.
