Quint homer sparks Hodgdon to victory

HODGDON – Jordan Quint’s two-run home run highlighted a five-run third-inning rally Wednesday that gave Hodgdon the lead for good on its way to a 12-7 high school baseball victory over Katahdin.

Tyler Schools added two doubles, a single and four RBIs for Hodgdon, while Jeff Condon had three singles.

Owen McCarthy and O’Neil Qualey each singled twice for Katahdin of Stacyville. Keith Anderson hit a two-run double.

Houlton 6, Caribou 1

At Caribou, Ben Pierce gave up just one run on four hits while striking out four to help lead Houlton to the victory.

Andrew Brown and Harry Austin each doubled and singled for Houlton and Jordan Hill added a double.

Anthony Adam hit a double and a single for Caribou.

Cen. Aroostook 6, Fort Fairfield 2

At Fort Fairfield, the Panthers of Mars Hill scored four unearned runs on two throwing errors in the top of the sixth to earn the winning edge.

Eric Martinez singled twice for the winners.

Matt Rochford had a double and a single to lead the Tigers.

Washburn sweeps East Grand

At Danforth, the Beavers tallied 52 runs in two games to sweep East Grand, 27-4 and 25-2.

In the opener, Seth Milton doubled twice, Jason Thompson tripled and Luke Hafford doubled to pace the winners. James Croan had a two-run single for the Vikes.

In the second game, Hafford singled three times and Josh Bigbee singled twice to key Washburn.

Adam Thompson and Sam Morris doubled for the Beavers while Josh Barnes had a double for East Grand.

At Readfield, Taylor Helberg gave up just two runs and three walks while fanning nine to help Winslow to the win.

Helberg also hit a home run and two singles with three RBIs for the Black Raiders. Corey Martin doubled and singled with two RBIs.

Josh Lake and Justin Denbow each hit two singles for Maranacook.

At Howland, Shane Eaton had two singles, including a two-run single in the first inning, to lead Deer Isle-Stonington to the win.

Thomas Robbins pitched a two-hitter for the Mariners.

Josh Ireland and Jake Crosby singled for Penobscot Valley.

At Calais, Isaiah Roberts hit a two-run double to highlight a six-run Machias rally in the top of the first inning.

The Bulldogs’ Thomas Buck allowed just two hits.

At Thorndike, Mike Mayer hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to help push Mount View past Camden Hills of Rockport.

Willie Crighton had two singles with a RBI and Cliff Gardner added two singles.

Michael Cummons doubled and singled for Camden Hills.

Corey Colbeth doubled and singled for the Raiders. Jason Labonte hit a double to knock in two runs and Yung Su Kim singled with two RBIs.

Kyle Kennedy hit a single for Narraguagus of Harrington.
