Wildcats shut out Fort Kent

PRESQUE ISLE – Junior righthander Danielle Grenier allowed only one hit while striking out nine and walking two to lead Presque Isle to a 12-0 softball victory over Fort Kent on Thursday.

Katie Delong doubled twice and drove in three runs for the winners. Beth McGlinn chipped in with a triple, double and single and Danielle Dyer added a two-run double. Grenier also had an RBI single.

Leah Babin singled in the second inning for Fort Kent.

At Van Buren, Lindsey Beaulieu doubled, singled and drove in two runs to lead the Eagles.

Winning pitcher Nikki Michaud added two singles.

Amy Vaillancourt hit a solo homer for Van Buren and Kasie Caron singled twice.

Fort Fairfield 8, Washburn 2

At Fort Fairfield, Brittany Guiou and Brittany Strout combined to toss a one-hitter and strike out 11 to help Fort Fairfield to the win.

Jen Wortman tripled and doubled to drive in a run for the Tigers. Dani Searles had two singles with two RBIs and Melissa Bubar also singled twice with a RBI.

Kristen Carter singled for Washburn.

Nicole St. Pierre tripled and singled with an RBI for Wisdom.

At Hermon, Erika Veinote allowed just four hits and struck out seven to earn the win for Hampden Academy.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ashley Hall collected three singles, a triple and drove in three runs as the Ponies outslugged the Red Riots.

Sarah Anderson added two singles, a double and two RBIs for the winners.

Rachel Joyce tripled and singled to lead Orono.

Traci Underhill added two home runs, a double, single and four RBIs for the Red Devils. Shawna Bell had a home run, two doubles, a single and four RBIs, while Lindsay Mitchell also homered.

At Fort Fairfield, Adam Anderson threw a five-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk to lift the Warriors.

Travis Brooker paced Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook offensively with three RBIs on two doubles. Evan Boulier drove in four runs on two doubles and a single. Evan McGary hit two singles and added an RBI.

At Van Buren, sophomore lefthander Trevor Hews allowed only two hits while striking out 13 and walking one in the five-inning victory.

Andrew Taylor and Dominique Rossignol each had two singles and two RBIs for the winners. Dustin Cyr and Hews each chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

At Madawaska, Eric Gendreau hit two doubles to knock in three runs and lead Madawaska past Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Billy Roy tripled, singled and scored two runs for Madawaska. Gil Cyr hit a two-run single in the first inning and Andre Roy had two singles and two RBIs.

Brandon Cyr hit three singles for Wisdom while Jeff Paradis and Chris Pelletier each hit a RBI single.

At Hermon, Billy Shannon’s two-run single in the top of the second inning highlighted a four-run rally that sparked Hampden Academy to the win.

Ian Lee doubled and singled with two RBIs for the Broncos, while Jason Huntley pitched a six-hitter and singled twice.

Cory Archer doubled and singled with an RBI for Hermon, while Phil Cayford doubled.

At Ellsworth, Kevin McAvoy hit a solo home run in the seventh inning and a single to drive in three runs and help push Brewer past Ellsworth.

Jeff Miller doubled and singled to knock in three runs for the Witches and Andy Otis had two singles and scored twice.

Andy Berry had a triple and three singles with two RBIs for Ellsworth and Bryan Gashlin hit two singles.

At Newport, Brian Hackett struck out 13, gave up two hits and didn’t walk a batter in five innings to lead Bangor.

Nick Larochelle and P.J. Dowe each drove in two runs for the winners as Larochelle doubled and singled and Dowe singled twice. Ryan Toomey added a double, two singles and an RBI.

Josh Viles doubled twice for Nokomis.

At Dover-Foxcroft, sophomore Josh Pelletier hit a home run, double and single with three RBIs to lead the host Ponies to their sixth straight victory.

Matt Carey pitched a five-inning three-hitter, and also had a double, a single and two RBIs. Shayne Croan added two singles and two RBIs for Foxcroft Academy.

Dusty Thomas had an RBI double and a single for Orono, while Travis Dutton had a triple and three RBIs.
