White propels Ponies past Pirates

FOXCROFT – Danny White drove in the winning run as the Foxcroft Academy Ponies defeated the Piscataquis Community Pirates of Guilford 3-2 in schoolboy baseball action Tuesday.

White finished with three singles.

Travis Hughes had an RBI single and scored the winning run andChris Walker had a double and a single.

For Piscataquis, Brian White scored twice and hit two singles while Buddy Leavitt and Randy Burgess both had singles.

At Kenduskeag, Ben Maloney fired a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and five walks for the Tigers’ victory.

Maloney also tripled and doubled for Shead of Eastport. Larry Bowen hit two singles. Darrin Constant singled twice and drove in two runs.

Nick Waite hit two singles for the Knights of Charleston.

At Newport, Adam Freeman led a 14-run outburst in the fifth inning for the Witches with four RBIs on a bases-loaded double and a bases-loaded single.

Tony Doucette had two singles for Brewer.

Ian Buzanoski singled twice for Nokomis.

At Mount Desert, Robbie McLaughlin pitched a one-run two-hitter, striking out six and walking only three to lead MDI to victory.

McLaughlin added two singles for two RBIs while Brian Greenleaf also batted in two on two singles. Brandon Colbeth and Kris Reed each had a single for two RBIs.

Jason Shorey had Hermon’s RBI on a sacrifice fly while Ryan Garland and Andrew Eaton both had singles.

At Old Town, Daryl Watson led Orono with four singles.

At Lee, Bruce Stevens singled in Andy Ham with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the Pandas overcame an late comeback attempt by the Patriots.

Andy Ham had a double and a single while Jeremy Ham drove in three runs with two singles and Nate Dow singled twice for Lee.

Dave Chrisos and Matt Conley had two singles apiece for Bangor Christian.

At Calais, Scott MacDonald pitched a three hitter and struck out four, leading the Blue Devils to victory.

Jesse Henderson had a two-run single for Houlton while Billy Washburn had a double and a single.

At Fort Kent, Jesse Jalbert scattered four hits while striking out three to spark the Warriors.

Casey Boucher and Lance Morin each had three singles and an RBI for the winners. Kirk Levesque added a run-scoring double.

Griffin Hardy doubled and singled for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook and Nick Henry added an RBI single.

At Van Buren, the Crusaders scored 13 runs in the second inning en route to their win over the Hornets.

Stacy Ayotte had a triple, two doubles and seven RBIs, Phil Smith doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, Zach Cote had a double, single and three RBIs and Eric Ayotte tripled and doubled for Van Buren.

Bruce Oakes and Randall Perry had two singles and an RBI apiece for Ashland.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Mandy Murray had three doubles, two singles and five RBIs as the Ponies got by the Pirates in a wild one.

Leigh Cartwright had two doubles and two singles, Missy Michaud had three singles and Casey Snow tripled and singled for Foxcroft Academy.

Stephanie Wentworth had three triples, a single and six RBIs, Caterina Riitano had a triple, two singles and three runs batted in, while Lacey Hanscom and Greta Korsman recorded three singles apiece for Piscataquis of Guilford.

At Schenck, Lynn Farrington led the Wolverines with three singles and six RBIs, striking out seven from the mound.

At Lincoln, Kari Vance notched her eighth no-hitter this season while striking out nine batters and walking one to lead the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx past Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Jaide Littlefield led MA with two singles and three RBIs. Vance also had a double, a single, and two RBIs. Desirae Haines and Kylie Allen each had two singles and two RBIs while Brandi Rideout singled twice.

At Newport, Tina Turner’s two-run single in the fourth helped the Warriors knock off the Witches.

Amy Paradis and Casey Grignon had an RBI single each in Nokomis’ six-run fourth inning. Paradis, Michelle Murray and Danielle Clark each chipped in with a double.

Sherri Capponi singled twice and drove in a run for Brewer. Jenny Higgins added an RBI single.

At Bar Harbor, Bracey Barker’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in Alisha Boisvert with the winning run as the Trojans edged the Hawks.

Amber Smith had a home run and two singles for Hermon.

At Old Town, Missy Dorr scored the winning run on a wild pitch, leading the Indians to the win.

Emily Ouellette hit two singles for two RBI while Jessica Paul had two singles and a double. Mary Randall added two singles.

For Orono, Sarah Marquez hit a two-run double and a single while Emily Reed had a triple and a double. Hadley See contributed with two singles and a double.

At Calais, Amanda Brown singled and drove in a run, and Lanna Martin hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning as Calais held off Houlton 10-9 in high school softball action Tuesday.

Brown finished with three singles. Mia Silverthorne and Crystal Martin each hit two singles while Katie Frost added and RBI single.

For Houlton, Sarah Beasley and Emily Cole each had two singles and two RBIs while Valerie Lenentine hit an RBI double.

At Van Buren, the Hornets scored eight runs in the top of the seventh courtesy of six walks, two errors and two hits for a come-from-behind victory.

Nicole Corbin drove in three runs and singled for the Crusaders.
