Van Buren edges Owls 24-23

VAN BUREN – Lisa Levasseur’s two-run triple with one out in the bottom of the seventh gave Van Buren a come-from-behind 24-23 softball win over Madawaska Friday.

Madawaska had leads of 10-0 and 13-1 before the comeback.

Karie Ouellette drove in seven runs with a grand slam, a two-run homer and a single for Van Buren. Megan Lajoie had a homer, double and three singles and knocked in two runs, Darci St. Pierre homered, doubled and singled and drove in two and Lilly Morrow contributed a solo homer and a single.

Sarah Nadeau knocked in five runs for Madawaska with two homers and three singles and Beth Gerard had a double and four singles and delivered two runs. Amanda Plourde chipped in with four singles and a pair of RBIs.

At Fort Fairfield, Dani Searles’ RBI single through the hole scored sister Whitney, who had doubled and advanced to third on a fielders choice by other sister Kaylee gave the Tigers the upset win.

Sheena Esancy added an RBI double and Ellie Arato an RBI single for the winners. Brittany Collier scattered just four hits in seven innings.

Christine Lower singled twice and knocked in a run for the Warriors of Dyer Brook.

Ashland 23, Washburn 4

At Washburn, Ashley Nemer collected two doubles, a single and drove in three runs to lead the Hornets to the win.

Cora Campbell doubled, singled and knocked in a pair for Ashland and Danielle Long added a double and a single.

Eliza Maynard had three singles and three RBIs for the Beavers.

At Machias, Stephanie Whitman hit two singles to drive in four runs and help lead Machias to the victory.

Monique St. Pierre had a triple and two singles with two RBIs for Machias and Jillian Whitney hit three singles.

Mary Mawhinney hit a RBI single in the first inning for Washington Academy of East Machias. Ashley Tilton and Adrianne Merritt each singled.

At East Sullivan, Kylie Bragdon hit a three-run home run in the third inning to help lead Sumner to the win.

Jenay Tucker had three singles with two RBIs for Sumner. Rachel Robinson tripled and singled and Nichole Leach had two singles with a RBI.

Theresa Cameron hit a triple in the third inning for Searsport.

At Woodland, Britney Lingley hit two singles and knocked in two runs to help carry the Tigers of Eastport to the win.

Tanya Cook singled twice and drove in a run for Shead and Tricia Candelno added an RBI single.

Tiffany Wormell had three singles to lead the Dragons. Katie Smith doubled and Megan Lord notched two singles.

Katahdin 14, Hodgdon 9

At Hodgdon, Shelly Martin had a double, single, and one RBI to help pace Katahdin of Baileyville by Hodgdon.

Ronnie Robinson had two singles for the Cougars.

Erin Foster tripled and doubled for three RBIs. Amanda Scott had a double, single, and two RBIs for the Hawks.

At Washburn, Josh Bigbee hit three singles to help lead the Beavers past Ashland.

Jason Thompson singled twice and Isaac Carney delivered a two-run single in a four-run fourth inning.

Alan O’Clair doubled to lead the Hornets’ offense.

At Machias, Steve Colbeth slammed three home runs to go with a single, driving in six runs and leading the Raiders to the win.

Jeff Ramsdell and Jean Hostetter each singled twice for Washington Academy of East Machias.

Thomas Buck and James McCarthy had two singles apiece for the Bulldogs.

At East Sullivan, Dylan Johnson gave up just three runs on two hits and two walks while fanning 10 to help lead Sumner to the win.

Mason Bukowski hit a double and two singles to drive in three runs for the Tigers. Jim White had two singles and Evan Alexander hit a RBI single.

Mike Adams doubled for Searsport. Mike Adams singled and Matt Mercier hit a RBI fielder’s choice.
