Nokomis tops Caribou 7-4

NEWPORT – Josh Vile tripled and singled twice to power the Nokomis Warriors to a 7-4 high school baseball victory over the Caribou Vikings Saturday.

Tyler MacKenzie chipped in with two singles and an RBI for the Warriors.

Ryan Rogers and Ryan St. Peter each had two singles with an RBI for Caribou.

Katahdin 11-6, Schenck 7-3

At East Millinocket, Pat Willett had a triple, single and two RBIs in the nightcap and a two-run double in the fifth inning of the opener as the Cougars of Stacyville shut down the Wolverines.

In the second game, Willett hit an RBI triple in the first inning. Derek Schramm tripled and singled for the Cougars, Cameron Cunningham singled twice and Alex McAvoy knocked in two runs with a single and a fielder’s choice.

Jordan Pelkey had a double and two singles for Schenck while Kyle Pelkey and Pat Jamo had RBI singles.

In the opener, Frank Grass doubled, singled and homered to drive in two runs for Katahdin. Cunningham had two singles and Owen McCarthy had a two-run single.

Nick Bishop had three singles and two RBIs for Schenck while Kerrie Thompson and Jordan Pelkey contributed two singles and an RBI apiece.

Foxcroft, Ellsworth split

At Ellsworth, Josh Withee allowed just one run on three hits and no walks while striking out two to help the Ponies to the 14-1 win in the first game. The Eagles took the nightcap 12-11.

In the first game, Withee doubled and singled to drive in three runs for the Ponies. Matt Carey had a double and two singles with two RBIs and Adam Conway hit two singles with one RBI.

Cory Smith hit a RBI single in the second inning for Ellsworth.

In the second game, Louden Jellison had three singles with three RBIs for Ellsworth and Nick Putnam hit a RBI single in the sixth inning to give Ellsworth the lead. Matt Homich singled twice to drive in two runs and Smith doubled and singled.

Withee hit a double and a single with two RBIs for Foxcroft Academy and Josh Pelletier had two singles with a RBI.

At Bangor, Mike Martin and Brandon Woodman had run-scoring singles in a three-run fifth-inning rally that erased a 5-4 deficit and gave Dexter the lead for good.

Winning pitcher Chris Rabideau aided his own cause with a triple and a single and an RBI. Tim McCarthy had a pair of singles and an RBI.

Micah Dougherty had three singles and two RBIs for Bangor Christian and Justin Phinney doubled and singled.

At Newport, Tatum Welch drove in four runs on a double and two singles as the Warriors rolled over the Vikings.

Ashley Bragdon and Nikki Tuttle each added an RBI double for Nokomis. Alyssa Bragdon singled twice and had an RBI.

Billie Martin paced Caribou with a triple and two RBIs. Heather Brissette hit an RBI single and Christy Zbylut added a double.

Katahdin, Schenck split

At East Millinocket, Brooke Smallwood and Allie Arbo each knocked in a run on a sacrifice bunt in the sixth to help the Cougars earn a 7-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader. The Wolverines took the opener 14-1.

In the first game, Ashley Gleason knocked in five runs on two doubles. Melissa Rideout pitched a two-hitter and hit three singles with one RBI. Jessica Day singled twice.

K.C. Duffy-Stanley and Ronni Robinson each hit a single for Katahdin of Sherman Station.

In the second game, Smallwood added a double and a single and Duffy-Stanley tripled.

Day hit two singles for Schenck.

John Bapst, Bangor split

At the Husson College field in Bangor, a Jen Wright RBI double in the 10th inning gave Bangor a 7-5 win in the second game of a doubleheader after John Bapst captured the first game 6-1 behind a Gwen Wadleigh two-hitter.

In the second game, Bangor’s Katie MacDonald raced home with the winning run on Wright’s double after reaching on an error. Kelly White chipped in with a triple, double and RBI.

Jill Mitchell doubled, singled twice and had an RBI for John Bapst and Julia Sleeper added an RBI double.

In the first game, Sleeper backed her batterymate, Wadleigh, with a triple, double and two RBIs to lead Bapst.

Erin Gray had a run-scoring single for Bangor.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Catie Cravens hit two triples and a single to drive in five runs and help lead Ellsworth past Foxcroft Academy 16-4 in the second game. The Ponies also won the first game 6-4.

In the first game, Maggie Seavey tripled and scored three runs for the Eagles and Holly Johnston hit a RBI single in the first inning.

Lauren Snow had a triple and three single with two RBIs for Foxcroft Academy.

In the second game, Emma Rieman hit three singles to knock in a run for Ellsworth.

Sarah Anderson hit two singles for the Ponies and Snow doubled and singled with a RBI.

At Bangor, Cristy McGowan’s two-run double and RBI singles by Sabrina Cote, Cindy Koscielny and Tania Morales keyed an eight-run first inning that led Dexter to its win.

Brittany Veazie had four singles and an RBI to pace the Tiger attack; Morales had three singles and an RBI; Koscielny had two singles and two RBIs and Cote had two singles and an RBI.

Annie Babineau’s two singles and Aimee Sargent’s triple led Bangor Christian. Babineau had an RBI.
