Ellsworth High School

ELLSWORTH – Allison Chamberland, daughter of Randy and Ronda Chamberland of Ellsworth, has been named the valedictorian for the Ellsworth High School Class of 2004. She will attend Elmira College in New York.

She has been president of the National Honor Society and participated in the annual fall musical. She has participated in indoor and outdoor track, is involved with her church youth group, and is employed as a tour guide at the Woodlawn Museum.

Elizabeth Rockwood, daughter of Stephen and Melissa Rockwood of Ellsworth, has been named salutatorian of the Class of 2004. She plans to attend Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

She has been the recipient of several academic awards, including the Princeton Book Award, the University of Rochester Humanities and Social Sciences Award and the Female Engineers Society Achievement Award. She has been a member of the symphonic band since middle school, played clarinet in seasonal concerts, traveled to Washington, D.C., freshman year with the band, and was also a member of the pit orchestra for school productions “Into the Woods” and “Oklahoma.”

She has been a member of the art program and has had award-winning pieces on both the local level with honorable mentions in the Union Trust art exhibits and on the state level winning both a merit and gold key award in the Scholastic Art Awards.

She has been a member of the swim team and has thrown javelin on the outdoor track and field team since her freshman year.

Mary Jones, daughter of Doug and Nancy Jones of Lamoine, has been named first honors essayist for the Class of 2004. She plans to study photography at college next year.

During the past four years she has participated in the jazz band, American Field Service club, the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the National Art Honor Society. She is a member of Ellsworth-based Girl Scout Troop 060 and is a member of the Ellsworth United Methodist Church.
