NEWPORT – The annual town cleanup campaign allows residents free disposal of furniture, appliances, tires, wood waste, and some building materials on May 13 and 19 at the Newport Transfer Station.

Families may discard one couch, one refrigerator, one freezer, one mattress and box spring, four tires, shingles, rugs, up to 4 yards of wood waste, but no auto parts.

A special rate is available for disposing of cars. Call the Town Office at 368-4410 for information or to arrange removal of old autos.

Transfer station hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
