A Good Humor ice cream truck driver was assaulted in Orrington Monday afternoon, and her assailant made off with an undisclosed amount of money, police say.

Sgt. Scott Young of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department said the robbery occurred at about 3:30 p.m. in the area of Brewer Lake Road. The driver was not seriously hurt, Young said.

Detectives are investigating this crime, Young said.

A teenage girl allegedly stole a woman’s Pontiac on Monday morning in Bangor.

Officer Marty McCrea reported that at about 7 a.m. the blue 1997 Pontiac Grand Am was in Bangor because a woman there was in the process of buying it. The buyer’s 17-year-old sister allegedly took the Pontiac and may have driven to southern Maine. The girl is a transient, McCrea said.

The girl last was seen wearing a pink hat, a pink jacket, pink sunglasses and a white top.

An alleged drunken motorcyclist was arrested early Monday in Bangor.

Bangor police Officer Shawn Green reported that at about 1 a.m. he and Officer Dennis Townsend were on bicycle patrol near a street dance at the Waterfront Bar and Grill. They saw a man and woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, walk up a grassy hill to the May Street side of the U-Haul lot. The officers believed this was suspicious, Green said, because they had seen no vehicles in the lot besides the rentals.

The officers followed the pair and found a red and white 1987 Yamaha motorcycle parked between two trailers. They heard people talking about smoking and took positions so as to observe what they believed was a small group of people. Green said they then heard the motorcycle start.

The man they saw earlier was backing the motorcycle up, Green said, when Green stopped him and asked for his license. The man had difficulty pulling his license from his wallet, Green said. He was swaying and performed poorly on sobriety tests. Green arrested Brian Van Borstel, 31, of Bangor for operating under the influence and took him to the station, where a breath test returned a 0.20 percent blood alcohol level.

The “least drunk” man in a car was arrested early Monday in Bangor while trying to drive his friends home.

Bangor police Officer Shawn Green reported that at about 2 a.m. he saw a car on Main Street without working plate lights and caught up to it when it pulled onto State Street. After pulling the car over, Green said, he was overcome by the smell of alcohol coming from the window as he approached the car.

The driver, Scot Shorey, 40, of Bradley, admitted having “a couple of beers.” He performed poorly on field sobriety tests, Green said. Green said he told Shorey that sometimes the “least drunk” person in a vehicle will try to drive the others home. Shorey agreed that this was what he had been doing.

Green arrested Shorey for operating under the influence. At the police station, a breath test returned a 0.20 percent blood alcohol level.
