ORONO – Kris Younan of Leyden High School in Franklin Park near Chicago has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Maine and participate in the women’s basketball program in the 2004-05 season. The 5-foot-8 guard set Leyden High records with 1,127 points and 384 assists. She also recorded the first triple-double for the school with 32 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds.

Last season, Younan averaged 14.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game. She shot 44 percent from the field and 71 percent from the free-throw line.
