Wesley town meeting slated for Monday

WESLEY – Perhaps the biggest item on the agenda at the Monday, June 7, annual town meeting will be whether Richard Carlow gets re-elected to his selectmen’s position.

Nominations will be taken from the floor at the 7 p.m. gathering at Wesley Elementary School.

Carlow, who has served since 1976, believes his seat is safe.

“I’m due to get off, but if they put me back on, I’ll take it again if they want me,” Carlow said Thursday. “And if they don’t, I’ll sit home and watch TV from now on.

“That’s what happens in these small towns. If you take a job, you have it for life, more or less.”

The town of 120 residents has a warrant otherwise absent of any items out of the ordinary, Town Clerk Sheila Geel said.

“It’s the same stuff,” Geel said. “We are raising money for schools, ambulance and town budget. Nothing odd or unusual.”

Without the warrants in front of them, Geel and Carlow were unable to provide details on the proposed budget.
