Maine primary ballot lists 44 candidates

BANGOR – Maine voters will decide 44 contested primary elections in the state today for the Legislature and local offices. At stake are candidates’ nominations to represent their parties in the November election.

All voters may cast a ballot on the statewide referendum question, while only those enrolled in a political party may vote for candidates on primary election ballots.

Maine election law permits voter registration up to and including Election Day. Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky encourages those not now registered to visit their municipality’s registrar of voters, typically at the town office or city hall.

A listing of municipal registrars is available online at http://www.maine.gov/sos/cec/elec/reg.htm or by calling Maine’s elections division at 624-7650.
