Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Luis Tiant will appear at Hadlock Field on Friday when the Portland Sea Dogs take on the New Britain Rock Cats at 7 p.m. Tiant will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. He spent eight seasons with the Red Sox (1971-78) and compiled a 122-81 record with a 3.36 ERA and three 20-win seasons.
