Parritt wins ’95’ Super Street race Paluga is Winterport Dragway victor

HERMON – Speedway 95’s first Saturday race slate saw a familiar face make it to victory lane as Brent Parritt of Steuben took over the lead on Lap 7 of the CAM II Racing Fuels Super Street Series race and held on for the next 43 to win the feature race.

It was Parritt’s seventh win already this season.

Ross Robinson for Frankfort wound up second while Glenburn’s Kenny Bowness finished third. Clarence Suydam of Milbridge and Joe Legere of Milford were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Winterport Dragway

At Winterport, Joe Paluga of Bar Harbor finished first in the Street Money Race. Robin Reynolds of Winterport was the runner-up, while Mike Piela of Lisbon Falls and Kara Kenney of Northport were the semi-finalists.

Wiscasset Raceway

At Wiscasset, John Phippen of Bar Harbor notched his second win of the season in the pro stock series race at Wiscasset Saturday night.

John Rideout of Washington took his first checkered flag this year with a first-place finish in the limited sportsman. Bernie Dinsmore of Hope won the super street, Joe Creamer of Bath the strictly street, Randolph’s Pete McCollat the light A demon and Wiscasset’s Kevin Sherman the light B demon.

Beech Ridge Speedway

At Scarborough, after taking the lead at the midway point, Brockie Gerry of Fryeburg held off Alan Tardiff of Lyman in the closing laps to win his first NASCAR Pro Series final at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Saturday night.

After early leader Jackie Rousel’s car developed an ignition problem, Tardiff broke out of a three-wide battle for fifth and chased Gerry down, but couldn’t get alongside the leader before the checkered flag. Rich Eaton of Seabrook, N.H., wound up third, East Parsonfield’s Trevor Sanborn was fourth and Gorham’s Dan McKeage finished fifth.

Oxford Plains Speedway

At Oxford, Kenny Harrison held off Carey Martin and then Dennis Spencer Jr. and then Terry Merrill to post his second win of the year in the 35 lap Limited Sportsman finale.

Merrill was glued to Harrison’s rear bumper as they took the checkered flag. Spencer had his turn at challenging Harrison, but slipped back to third at the finish. Tommy Ricker, who had to pit for minor repairs early, raced back into fourth and Archie Watt Jr. was fifth.
