Review world history

Like all Americans, I am concerned about the very serious situation we find ourselves in Iraq. I am equally concerned about how we are reacting to the dilemma. Politicians are continually debating the pros and cons. One consideration is certain: Regardless of who our president is, the United States can never walk away from the problem.

All Americans should focus on history and remember what Hitler did to the world and his unchallenged deeds. Saddam Hussein’s history may not be as devastating, but is potentially every bit as dangerous.

If one agrees with the premise, Hussein’s reign should be ended – as it has been – and we should not continue arguing about how or why we got involved. We had to be there to stop Hussein.

Down the road, the issues of who said what could be debated forever, as it will be. Of course, there are many serious problems to be solved in Iraq. The November election adds greatly to the issue.

Our country may be far from perfect, but through disagreement comes understanding; and our people will prevail.
