Turner trips up Lee to capture Unity Pro Stock

UNITY – Randy Turner of Freedom outdueled defending champion Matt Lee of Albion after a long rain delay to win the Pro Stock feature Saturday at Unity Raceway.

Turner started in sixth but moved up to second after a first-lap caution and took the lead on lap 13. Lee, who started third, edged Turner for the next ten laps but Turner regained his lead for good on lap 24.

Winterport’s Pat Thibodeau was third and Gary Norris Jr. of West Gardiner took fourth. Orrington’s Kris Huff was fifth.

Sessions cruises to win

At Oxford, Sumner Sessions didn’t let starting 20th in the field bother him in Saturday’s Strictly Stock race at Oxford Plains Speedway. He worked his way through the field, taking the lead on lap 26 and cruising from there.

Skip Tripp of Auburn was the runner-up and Larry Emerson of Durham was third. Freeport’s Bob Crocker and Oxford’s Kim Tripp were fourth and fifth, respectively.

McKeage wins rematch

Lyman McKeage of Gorham won the rubber match of a recent, hotly-contested rivalry with New Gloucester’s Bruce Berry after their last showdown ended in a draw to highlight Sunday’s racing slate at Oxford Motor Speedway.

It was the second straight win for McKeage, whose spectator drags race was free from any of the extracurricular contact that typified their previous meetings.

Oliver earns Pro Series victory

At Scarborough, David Oliver of Scarborough held off Phil Baril of Haverhill, Mass., Saturday for his first Pro Series win of the season at Beech Ridge Speedway.

Baril finished in second place. Bub Bilodeau of Standish was third, Windham’s Bobby Babb was fourth and Lyman’s Alan Tardiff was fifth.

Rain washes out two tracks

Racing at Speedway 95 in Hermon and Wiscasset Raceway were rained out Saturday night.

Speedway 95 events will be made up Friday, June 25 at 7 p.m. There will be racing in all divisions, including the second race in the Coca Cola 50-lap Limited Sportsman series. Racing will be held as scheduled Wednesday night and Saturday night.

There is no makeup date for Wiscasset Raceway. Racing will continue as scheduled Saturday night.

Joy edges Davenport

Don Joy of Machias squeaked past Marc Davenport of Bucksport tow in the Super Pro Final feature at Witnerport Dragway.
