Israel and Palestine

Most American presidents since Harry Truman have sided with Israel during the terrible cycle of atrocities that have been committed by both the Israelis and Palestinians. Some have been more wary than others, but none have stopped what are called “crimes against humanity.”

One could cite hundreds of examples. Even when the Israelis were developing their atomic bombs – weapons of mass destruction – President Reagan never even acknowledged the fact, let alone took action to stop them. President Bush, however, has been Israel’s greatest supporter.

Many see this situation as the root cause of terrorism around the world. They would like to see Bush go next January in the hope that the next president would finally curtail this Mideast cancer.

At first, I hoped that Howard Dean would replace him. But, once Dean said that he would be more evenhanded with the Mideast problems, his campaign crumbled.

Then, I thought perhaps Sen. John Kerry might be a better candidate than Bush. However, in a recent television program with Al From of the New Democratic Network, Sen. Joe Lieberman and Simon Rosenberg, From stated that he had given Kerry $15 million for his campaign.

From said that they had talked with Kerry and he had agreed with them on many of the “issues.” It was obvious that the issues were Israel and Palestine. So, there goes any hope of changes in U.S. policies regarding the Israeli problem in the near future.
