Area Fourth of July events include the following:

Bar Harbor

The Fourth of July celebration will kick off at 6 a.m. Saturday, July 3, with a blueberry pancake breakfast at the Athletic Field on Park Street. It will last as long as the supply of pancakes lasts.

An antiques show and sale will be held 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., also on Saturday, at the YMCA at the corner of Park and Main streets.

The parade through the town will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by the lobster feed at the Athletic Field.

On Sunday, the fireworks, shot from the town pier, will begin about 9 p.m. over Frenchman Bay.

Bangor-Brewer

The Kiwanis Fourth of July Parade will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 4, on Acme Road in Brewer, proceed down Wilson Street and across the Chamberlain Bridge, then turn left down Main Street in Bangor.

World War II veterans will lead off the parade, gathering at 10:30 a.m. on the lawn by the municipal pool on Wilson Street. First Student will provide two buses for veterans who would like to ride in the parade. The buses also will carry marching veterans from the end of the parade route back to their cars in Brewer.

The Bangor Band will offer a patriotic concert at 7 p.m. in Paul Bunyan Park.

Fireworks will be set off at 9:30 p.m. on the waterfront.

Bangor

The Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau will hold a “Tommyknockers & More” bus tour at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4, leaving from the Bangor waterfront in the Front Street parking lot next to the harbor master’s office.

The tour points out similarities between the city and the fictional town Derry, Maine, the setting of several novels by author Stephen King. The tour guide will be Ryan King.

Shaw’s Supermarket will hold two fund-raisers to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. The donations will be earmarked for children who are cancer patients at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

From 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 4, Shaw’s will ask for a donation from those who park in its Main Street lot.

A barbecue fund-raiser also will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. outside the store.

Bradley

An Independence Day parade and community fun night will be held 6 p.m. Friday, July 2.

Line-up for the parade is at 5 p.m. on Broad Street. The fun night will be held 7-9 p.m. behind the Viola Rand School. To be in the parade or serve on the organizing committee, call Heidi at 827-1087.

Brewer

The annual Kiwanis Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by Bangor Noontime Kiwanis, will be held 6-10 a.m. Sunday, July 4, at Brewer Auditorium. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children 8 and under.

The fourth annual July 4th Solidarity Celebration, sponsored by the Greater Bangor Area Central Labor Council and Food AND Medicine, will be held starting at 5 p.m. at the Solidarity Center and Eastern Park, 20 Ayer St., off South Main Street. The event will feature food, children’s activities, raffles and live music. Featured speaker is Machinists’ International President Tom Buffenbarger.

Brooks

The Brooks Booster Club will hold the annual Brooks Field Days on Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 4, in the Brooks Park. The festivities begin on Saturday, “Kids Day,” at 8 a.m. with events throughout the day. Gates open at 8 a.m. Sunday, with fireworks set for 10 p.m.

Camden

The Camden Rotary Club will hold its annual Summer Concert on the Village Green from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 4. There will be food and live music served throughout the day. Featured performers include Stan Catell and his band, Steelin’ Thunder, and The Al Corey Swing Band. A 50/50 raffle drawing will be held in the evening. All proceeds from the event will go to the Rotary Scholarship Fund for local high school students.

Dexter

The town will sponsor a fireworks display at dusk on July 3 over Lake Wassookeag. A boat parade sponsored by local camp owners will be held at 10 a.m. on the lake.

Glenburn

The annual boat parade will be held at 1 p.m. July 4, at Lakeside Landing, Pushaw Lake.

Greenville

A variety of events will be offered on July Fourth, including a parade at 1 p.m. from Indian Hill, a daylong craft fair, a tug of war at 3:30 p.m. and a concert featuring Dave Mallett at 7 p.m., all at the Junction Wharf. Fireworks will be displayed at 9 p.m. from Bullwinkle’s parking lot.

Limestone

The Greater Limestone Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July celebration, which kicked off on Monday, will continue with the following events:

. At 7 p.m. tonight, there will be bingo with cash prizes.

. At 9 p.m. Friday, July 2, there will be a street dance.

. On Sunday, July 4, a parade will be held at 1 p.m., and family events will be held at Trafton Lake all day. Fireworks will go off at dusk.

Mattawamkeag

A dedication of the Veterans Memorial Park and the Mattawamkeag Honor Roll will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3.

Owls Head

The Fabulous ’50s, Sensational ’60s & Antique Aeroplane Show will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 3-4, at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Admission for one day is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for children 6-11. Museum members and children under 5 get in free. Family admission is $22.

Rockwood

Fourth of July events will be held on July 3 starting with a chicken barbecue at 11:30 a.m. at the fire station. There will be games for children, live entertainment and a craft fair also in the area of the fire station.

At 3 p.m., the Moosehead Lake Vacation and Sportsmen’s Association will sponsor its annual rubber duck fund-raising race. The ducks will be placed into Moose River at the bridge. Fireworks will be displayed at dusk over the public docks.

Sebec

Several July Fourth events are on tap, most of them sponsored by the Sebec Freedom Riders Snowmoble Club. The morning will feature a public breakfast at the Community Church and canoe races. A parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the village followed by a chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At the Sebec Town Hall on the Ladd Road, the Humble Farmer, a stand-up comedian, will perform throughout the day; Joe Bolf of Greenville, a chain saw artist will perform four shows throughout the afternoon; and Dan Baker, a magician, will perform at 4 p.m. Also scheduled during the day is a dunk tank, children’s games, an auction at 2 p.m. sponsored by the Sebec Fire Department, a daylong auction, and refreshments.

Skowhegan

The town of Skowhegan, the Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce, Skowhegan Savings Bank and Franklin Savings Bank will hold a parade starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 4, at the fairgrounds and continuing down Madison Avenue.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., or dusk, fireworks will be seen at the Eddy.

Thomaston

Fourth of July events will be held Saturday, July 3, starting with a pancake breakfast at 6 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge.

A 1K Kids Race starts at 8 a.m. on Beechwood Street and a 5K race for adults will start at 8:30 a.m. A craft tent will open at 9 a.m. behind the Masonic Lodge. The traditional pet show will start at 9:15 a.m. at the high school.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and will march from Georges Valley High School to U.S. Route 1 (Main Street). After the parade, a chicken barbecue will be held at noon. Entertainment for the evening will be by The Martinis and The Rock-It Band. Fireworks will start at 9:15 p.m.
