Machias’ Toby Woods no-hits Sunrise

MILBRIDGE – Toby Woods pitched a no-hitter, striking out 16, as Machias took a 5-3 win over Sunrise in District 1 Little League Baseball Tournament action for 9- and 10-year-olds.

Woods tripled for Machias while Tyler Varney, Nick Pineo, and Josh Scoville all singled.

Curtis Worcester struck out 10 for Sunrise.

Bucksport 16, Coastal 0

At Bucksport, Tyler McLliam singled and tripled to help the host team win.

Zach Smith doubled while Matt Swazey and David Fucillo each had an RBI single for the winners.

Schuler VanDereb singled for Coastal.

At Calais, Adam Geel doubled to drive in two runs for Calais, as well as striking out 13 while only giving up three hits.

Dylan Carter singled twice. Ryan Johnson had a double and two RBIs.

Ben Walls singled twice for Acadia of Bar Harbor.

Orono-Veazie 9, Old Town 7

At Old Town, Daisuke Ozaki hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to give Orono-Veazie the win.

Ozaki also doubled and singled twice for the winners. Matt Storgaard, Dan Lesser, and Michael Newberry each singled.

Nick Michaud, Josh Boucher, and Jake Doing had two singles apiece for Old Town. Keith Larrabee added a triple.

Bangor East 30, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Buddy Angst hit a triple, two doubles, and a single as Bangor East opened tournament play with the road victory.

Lonnie Hackett added three singles for Bangor East, while Nate Lewis doubled and singled and winning pitcher Devin Lyshon and Josh Turcotte each doubled.

Michael Frederick doubled and Ryan Feeney singled for Hermon.

At Benedicta, Eric White aided Brewer’s win by striking out nine while only allowing three hits.

Evan Nadeau and Jamie Williamson helped the team come from behind with RBI singles in the sixth inning. Nick Risser doubled and White added a single.

Evan McCarthy struck out 10, giving up only two hits in five innings for Katahdin. Dakota Sleeper doubled and McCarthy and Cody Robinson each singled.

Lincoln 3, Hampden 0

At Hampden, righthander Lance Bernier struck out 17 and scattered five hits to pace Lincoln past Hampden.

Bernier didn’t walk anybody while throwing 63 strikes among his 86 pitches.

Ivan Voisine supplied Bernier with the only run he was to need by hitting a solo homer in the second. Matt Voisine doubled home a fourth-inning run.

Zach Frish doubled and singled for Hampden and Ryan McCluskey singled twice. Righty Nathan Clark pitched a two-hitter, striking out nine and walking one.

At Millinocket, Garen Manzo singled three times and doubled once as Millinocket ran away with a win.

David and Brandon Bouchard each had four singles. Jared McGillicudy singled twice and doubled.

Brandon Murray had two singles for Border.

At Glenburn, Ashley Thayer’s two-run triple sparked a five-run, sixth-inning rally for Hermon.

Thayer added two singles and Katie Feeney had three singles with an RBI.

Kamie Prendergast led Bangor with two doubles and two RBIs. Hannah Colpritt hit three singles and Kim Stanevicz a triple.
