Pooler, Conroy help Trenton rally past Waldo

SEARSPORT – Andy Pooler’s two-run double and Tony Conroy’s RBI single keyed a four-run fifth-inning rally that rallied Trenton to a 9-6 American Legion Zone 1 baseball victory over Waldo on Thursday.

The game was called after six innings due to fog.

Trenton, which had trailed 6-2, scored three times in the fourth before Will Rosenthal’s double triggered the four-run fifth.

Mark Clapp had a double and two singles for Trenton, Rosenthal doubled twice, Pooler doubled and singled and Conroy had a pair of singles.

Paul Herman homered, doubled and singled for Waldo and Mike Cummons singled twice.

Calais 7, Hampden 3

At Calais, Scott Macdonald singled with the bases loaded to drive home two runs and spark a five-run second-inning rally that lifted the Suns past Hampden.

Steve Colbeth tripled and singled for Calais, while Russ McLean singled twice.

Ian Lee and Chris Pease each doubled and singled for Hampden.

Brewer 17, Penquis 14

At Brewer, Kevin McAvoy hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs as the Falcons outscored the Navigators.

The game was originally scheduled to be held in Dover-Foxcroft, but was moved to Brewer due to wet field conditions.

Nye Gifford helped Brewer rally from a 7-2 deficit, hitting a three-run home run to highlight an eight-run Falcons rally in the top of the third.

Pat Moran added three hits, including a home run, for Brewer, while Joe Robicheau doubled and singled twice.

Josh Withee paced Penquis with three hits, including a home run, while Josh Pelletier also had three hits and Jason Weymouth and Eric Day had two hits each.
