ORRINGTON – Organizers of Olde Home Week, July 24-31 in Orrington, have put together a shindig that offers fun and frolic for all. The schedule is:
Saturday, July 24
. The Curran Farm will sponsor an Olde Fashioned Fair at the farm on the Field’s Pond Road. Attractions include rides, games and food.
. Orrington Enterprise Grange 173 will hold a turkey supper from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $6, $3 for children under 12. The Grange hall is located on the corner of Dow Road and Center Drive.
Sunday, July 25
. The Olde Home Week committee will sponsor a harp concert featuring harp Kathleen Wychulis 3-5 p.m. at the East Orrington Church, Johnson Mill Road. Wychulis will perform traditional Irish tunes and works by Bach and Britten. Ross Snyder will join Wychulis for a harp-horn duet. There is no admission charge for the concert. Monday-Friday, July 26-30
. Olde Home Week giant annual used book sale, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Orrington Public Library.
Tuesday, July 27
. Danny Baker, billed as Maine’s funniest magician, will present a magic show for all ages at 2 p.m. at the East Orrington Congregational Church. The program is free of charge and sponsored by the Orrington Public Library.
Thursday, July 29
. The East Orrington Congregational Church will hold a turkey pie supper 4:30-6 p.m. at the church. The cost is $6, $3 children under 12.
Friday, July 30
. The Orrington Enterprise Grange 173 will hold a bluegrass music show featuring the Katahdin Valley Boys 7:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person.
Saturday, July 31
. A yard sale will be held 7 a.m.-4 p.m. at Fields Pond Audubon Center. Items for sale will include outdoor equipment, nature-related items, antiques and books. Call 989-2591 for more information.
. The Manly Men of the East Orrington Congregational Church will hold an Olde Fashioned Breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. at the church. The cost $5.
. The Orrington Olde Home Week parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Center Drive School. Parking will be allowed on Center Drive, at the field by the town garage and on Johnson Mill Road on the north side. Parade grand marshal will be Ed Moore. The parade theme is Celebrate the Children. . The First United Methodist Church on Center Drive will hold a chicken barbecue at noon. The cost is $6, $3 children under 12.
. The Orrington Historical Society will hold an open house 1-4 p.m. at the society’s headquarters on Center Drive. At 2 p.m. Earl Morrill will give a talk about the James Coburn, the last ship to be built in Orrington.
. The Lighthouse Church of God, Route 15, will hold a roast beef supper from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $6, $3 children under 12.
