FITCHBURG, Mass. – Thomaston’s Ricky Jones qualified for the United States Amateur Championship by firing a two-round total of two-under par 138 at the Oak Hill Country Club in Fitchburg, Mass. Monday. The U.S. Amateur Championship will be held at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y. on Aug. 16-22. Jones was one of four qualifiers. Ron Harvey Jr. of Picadilly, New Brunswick captured medalist honors with a 135, Douglas Clapp of Walpole, Mass. posted a 136 and Jones tied for third with Brendan Hester of Sutton, Mass.
