Ellsworth: Apologetix to headline Acadiafest 2004

Christian parody band ApologetiX headlines AcadiaFest 2004, a Christian outdoor music festival in Ellsworth. Other bands will include The Rock Show, Neally’s Corner, Unspoken and The King Pin Wrecking Crew. The music starts at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in a tent behind Family Bible Church on Route 3. ApologetiX is a four-member group cofounded by J. Jackson and Karl Messner that has produced a string of CDs with parodies of pop music. The band’s music ranges from “Gangsta’s Paradise” by Coolio to “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies to “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees. Jackson writes the parodies and sings lead. He says the first pop song that made an impression on him was “Don’t Sleep in the Subway” by Petula Clark. AcadiaFest tickets are available by calling (877) 777-4TIX .
